Lumetrics, Inc. To Expand, With Move To New Facilities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rochester, NY- April 7, 2011- Lumetrics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of world-class measurement technology, is on the move.

Lumetrics is expanding its operation with a move to a new facility at Eagle’s Landing, in Henrietta, on May 15. In its eighth year of operation, Lumetrics has seen significant growth and has outgrown its current space in the Lennox Tech Enterprise Center.

“At our current size and with the projected growth we see over the next two or three years, we need more space,” said President John Hart.  “Our customers are requesting larger and more complex systems, and we need to accommodate the staging and testing that they require.” The new 10,000 square feet of space will allow expansion of manufacturing, research and development, and product engineering.

Lumetrics is fast becoming a leader in medical device measurement.  The company saw a greater than 50 percent growth in revenue from 2009 to 2010, and the current year is projected to continue that growth. The OptiGauge-based measurement systems — primarily sold to the medical and ophthalmic industries – are being used in six of the top 11 medical device manufacturers in the world, for measurement of balloons, catheters, and other medical products.

The company is also beginning to develop its own medical devices. Lumetrics, which has significant R&D resources involved in development of cutting-edge products, was recently granted a patent on technology for evaluating the internal structure of the human eye.  “Part of our recent success is exemplified by our track record in obtaining Small Business Innovation Research grants and turning those grants into products,” Hart said.

Lumetrics, Inc. Axial Length Patent Approved, Will Advance Patient Care in Ocular Health

Rochester, NY- February 23, 2011- Lumetrics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of world-class precision thickness measurement technology has received patent approval for their newest technology for evaluating internal structure of human eye. The United States Patent #7884946 is titled “Apparatus for Measurement of the Axial Length of an eye.”

With the U.S. population of over 65 year old expected to be over 70 million in 2030 and world populations increasing at a similar rate, there is a dramatic need for tools to treat the wave of eye diseases and problems expected with that population.  Diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataract disease will climb tremendously.  Information about the structure of the eye is required in refractive surgeries, which deal with replacement of the natural crystalline lens.

“The system will allow eye surgeons to obtain highly reliable comprehensive data about the patient’s eye with no discomfort to the patient . . . the technology also allows for seamless integration with other existing ophthalmic instruments, and can even be used in real time during cataract surgery to monitor proper placement of the artificial lens inside the patient’s eye” explains Filipp Ignatovich, Principal Scientist at Lumetrics.

This patent approval is a significant milestone for Lumetrics – it marks a segue into instrumentation for use in the ophthalmic and medical fields.

For additional information on Lumetrics’ technology, contact Todd Blalock, Chief Technology Officer at 585-214-2455 Extension 109.

Lumetrics, Inc. Selected for Prestigious Innovation Briefs Presentation at MD&M West 2011 Trade Show

News Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROCHESTER, N.Y., January 28, 2011- Lumetrics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of world-class precision thickness measurement technology, will showcase its newest innovation, the LumetriScan 360 at the Medical Design & Manufacturing West tradeshow held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center, February 8-10.

Lumetrics has been selected to be featured in a prestigious series of Innovation Brief Presentations at the trade show.  John Hart, president of Lumetrics, Inc., will be presenting the LumetriScan detail at the conference’s Innovation Briefs at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011 in the Innovation Theater 1, booth 639.

Hart will be discussing advances in balloon catheter measurement and will highlight the LumetriScan 360 system, a fully automated, non-contact thickness measurement gauge for long-length medical tubing and balloons up to 36 inches in length.  With the data derived from LumetriScan 360 you can achieve higher quality products, reduce costs and inspection time, and ultimately reduce risk and improve customer satisfaction. The system simultaneously measures inside diameter, outside diameter, wall thickness, concentricity, and ovality of medical devices. It can be installed at a production line or used in the QA lab post production. LumetriScan 360 has the capability to measure at a rate of 50 times per second with an accuracy of 1/10th of a micron.  Traditional inspection methods consist of razor blades, microscopes, pin gauges, and micrometers which are being replaced by objective, non-desctructive, operator independent systems like LumetriScan, tailored to today’s complex medical devices.

Companies interested in the LumetriScan and other products as solutions for their thickness measurement needs should visit the Lumetrics’ booth (#1948) for a demonstration.

For additional information on Lumetrics’ products or to schedule a custom measurement, contact Steve Heveron-Smith at 585-734-3394 or Steve Kelly 585-233-3618 and at booth #1948 at the tradeshow.

Medical Design & Manufacturing West 2011 is Rapidly Approaching!

One of the most renown trade shows in the medical device industry – Medical Design and Manufacturing West- is rapidly approaching.  We’re very excited here at Lumetrics as this is one of our biggest events that we participate in.  This year, we’ll be doing a few different things to highlight some of the ground-breaking technology we’ve been working so fervently on.

First, we’ll be showcasing our headway with the handheld fundus camera we’ve developed.  This product will ultimately bring the gold standard to patient care.  Not only is this hand held camera very easy to use, it gives doctors a state-of-the-art way to image and store patient fundus pictures that help diagnose ocular diseases, and other diseases as well.

We’ll also be showcasing RoLLS, with some enhancements that will make the measurement solutions we provide even better.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of our industry partners and colleagues that we don’t get to see often, and we will also be providing custom sample measurement tutorials for your product.  We will be located in booth 1948- and if you’d like to set up a custom tutorial, e-mail Steve Kelly, or give us a call- 585-214-2455.

As a thank you to our friends and partners, we’re also offering a free pass (normally $55- so take advantage of this)  for you to come check out all of the great exhibitors, and the latest developments with Lumetrics.
